There is so much to love about hockey, and it’s a shame that so many people here in the US don’t have the opportunity to fall in love with it. Once I went to a game (in 1988) I was hooked. Now I follow the NHL, World Juniors, Olympics…it’s all just so good.

I also love the CBC’s brilliant montage every year after the cup is won.

Thank you for describing this in more than 140 characters. The huge variety of paces in the running community is nothing short of awesome.

I love that the person who comes first in any race, even if it’s a pro athlete, can start right alongside the person who comes last. How often does a newbie to a sport get to compete with (talk to, watch, learn from) a seasoned veteran? We all struggle to find the right shoes, the right training schedule, the right gear for the season. We’re all fighting with our own personal bests – I don’t see any need to divide up the running community by pace or finish times. Harrumph to the NY Times.

Augh, this debate always pisses me off. Yes, I won the last 5K I was in (Yay!). No, this doesn’t mean that the people who came in 15 minutes after me had any less an accomplishment.

It isn’t speed that makes one a runner. It’s heart.
